Born ‎7 Mar 1916 (2 Adar II 5676)‎, age 108 years He is the only non-South African to have been Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa where he has beenaprofessorofphysics since July, 1953. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1971.
