Married ± 1689 Curacao, Netherlands Antilles (married approximately 41 years) to:  David Senior [I1715], age by marriage approximately 25 years, son of Mordechai Senior and Sara Lopez.Born 7 May 1664 (12 Iyar 5424), died 13 Sep 1749 (1 Tishrei 5510) Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, age 85 years David Senior was sent to Coro in 1722 as a personal representative of Curacaos Governer, Jan Noach Du Fay. This was due to his diplomatic and linguistic skills and the fact that he has an economic investment there. His mission was to claim reparations for a galleon stranded off the coast of Venezuela while fleeing pirates. He was successful. David also lobbied in 1726 in the town council against a special surtax to be levied on goods from Spain received by residents, which meant Sephardic merchants. {American Jewish Archives Volume XLIV Spring/Summer, 1992, Number 1, Page 81} Most of his will was concerned with explaining to his surviving sons, Jacob, Abraham and Mordechai Chaim, how to pay off the debts of the company ofDavidSeniorandSons. He told his sons pay off strangers first, so as to keep an honorable name , then pay off relatives. Above all, don't sell propertyunlessforcedtoby natural catastrophe or war. And in that case let the city houses go but keep the plantations, especially Bloempot, beloved byhis wifeSarah. Children: 2.
Mordechay Haim Senior [I1732]Died 1750 Curacao, Netherlands Antilles A dowrey of 4,000 pesos was paid for his marriage to Sarah Senior. Sara Senior must have died some time before 1731 since at his second marriage, whichisrecordedastaking place some time after 1731, he is listed as a widower. A dowry of 4,80 0 pesos was paid at the marriage of Leah Jesurun. ("HistoryoftheJewsof the Netherlands Antilles" pg 993). 3.
Jacob Senior [I2240]A dowry of 3,000 pesos was paid for the marriage of Leah Henriquez. A dowry of 2,000 pesos was paid for his second marriage to Batsebah Fidanque. | |||
